Jesus’ Promise
John 11.22 – [Martha said this to Jesus.] “But even now I know that whatever you ask from God, God will give you.”
Suggested Prayer
I pray for my deepest soul’s sincere desire to be fulfilled in the right time and in the right way.
Personal Reflection
Mary and Martha reached out to Jesus at a time of their deepest need. For three days Jesus was silent, as these two sisters grieved over the death of their brother, Lazarus.
Sometimes God seems to be silent, silent at the most crucial times in our lives. Martha encourages us keep on going to God and to keep on trusting him. This kind of action is difficult, but it is also very much part of life.
One author said, “Faith is not the absence of doubt, but it is continuing to go on with God in the midst of doubt.”
Martha demonstrated the kind of faith that keeps going to Jesus in the midst of grief and potentially doubt. What a great lesson for us!
Your Turn
Everyone experiences hard times in life. Sometimes, the hard times are compounded by a sense of God’s absence. What are we going to do? Martha shows us that faith is continuing to come to Jesus, even if he seems distant and silent.

I know that what ever I ask of you you will give it.
