Jesus’ Promise

1 John 5.15 – And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of him.

I pray for the right persons to come into my life, at the right time and in the right way.

Personal Reflection

One of my spiritual heroes gave his entire life’s work to a plan for reaching cities for Christ. As he was about to launch this ambitious ministry, he became deathly ill. The doctor’s reports were grim and he genuinely feared for his life.

He knew that he needed to hear from God and spent three days in a motel fasting and praying. God seemed to be silent until he was driving home. It was then that God did speak. God told him clearly that he would live.

God’s word to this man didn’t end his struggle with health. He faced months of agonizing treatment and was left nearly blind. What God’s word to him did for him was to give him the courage to face his illness with the knowledge that God had heard his prayer.

Once we have heard from God, we can pray and live in faith with the knowledge that we have the God of the Universe on our side.

I don’t know what readers of this article are currently going through. I encourage you to take the time to know the will of God before you act. God is more than willing to let you know that he has heard your prayer and what is his will.

I have found that I have to get over my own self-interest and wilfulness before I can hear from him. Possibly you are like me.

Today, let’s determine to know God’s will and then pray his will for our lives and the lives of our loved ones.
