Promise and Prayer – Day 24 (Wednesday, Week 4)

Jesus’ Promise

1 John 3.22 – And whatever we ask we receive from him, because we keep his commandments and do what pleases him.

Suggested Prayer

I pray for my actual needs to be met by the right supply, in the right way and at the right time.

Personal Reflection

John knew something about love, obedience and prayer. He knew the truth of Jesus words: “As the Father has loved me, so I have loved you; abide in my love. If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and abide in his love. You are my friends if you do what I command you”. (See John 15.9-10, 14).

I think it is important to tell the people we love about our affection for them. However, our words must be matched by our actions. When we are living in a love-relationship with Jesus we will be doing things that please him. It is in that relationship that our prayers are most effective.

As we pray for our needs today, one of our important needs is to love Jesus and to live pleasing to him.

Your Turn

Think about your life with Jesus. What needs to take place to show him the depth of your love? Please encourage the readers of with your thoughts. Thanks.

  1. Prepare my heart, Lord, and fill my mind with Your wisdom and discernment as we prepare to meet tonight in small groups. Show me where I have failed, Lord. Equip me to honor You more freely. Thank You.

  2. Dear God I know that everything good in my life came from you.
The more your will becomes apart of my life the better everything gets. Not all days are great ones but the more I seek your will the less time I have to complain because you make everything better.
