Jesus’ Promise
One of Jesus’ greatest statements is found in today’s prayer promise: “You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you” (John 15.16).
Think about it! Jesus chose you. He wants to have something to do with people like you and me. Amazing!
He also promises to answer what we pray about, so our lives will be fruitful and abundant.
Suggested Prayer
I pray for the right ideas to come to me in the perfect sequence and in the perfect order, in the right time and in the right way.
Personal Reflection
“My head is out to kill me.”
“My own best thinking had me living under the bridge.”
“I don’t want to be sick today.”
“I have to take contrary action every day.”
These statements reflect the power of ideas in our lives. The wrong thoughts will literally lead us to destruction. The right ideas in our head will lead us to life.
As I ask God for the right ideas to come to me, I am asking God to transform my thinking, so that right thinking will transform my actions. Below are two Bible passages to consider.
Romans 12:2 – Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your minds, so that you may discern what is the will of God—what is good and acceptable and perfect.
Philippians 4:8 – Finally, beloved, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is pleasing, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence and if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.
Your Turn
Please join me in praying this prayer today. Then, pay attention to what you think about throughout the day. When you own best ideas and thoughts begin to take over your mind, let that be a signal to ask God to give you his ideas.
Remember his promise. He chose you to live with him and to have a fruitful and abundant life. He will certainly answer your prayer to give you the right ideas at the right time today.

I have found that asking for God’s will in my day to day life has always had a better result than my thinking.

I so needed to hear this today. I’m overwhelmed with worry and fear and feel like I got the world on my shoulders. But that’s because my thinking is not right. You are so right, the wrong thoughts will litterly lead me to destruction! I ask for prayer that God will intervene in my stubborn mind.
