Jesus’ Promise
John 16.23 – “In that day you will ask nothing of me. Truly, truly, I say to you, whatever you ask of the Father in my name, he will give it to you.”
Suggested Prayer
I pray for my will to become completely and utterly your will.
Personal Reflection
All ten of the suggested prayers speak to me. However, this prayer may be the most important, because at the core of my being is self-love, self-pleasing, self-seeking, self-determining, self, self and more self. How am I going to get free from the oppressive desire to always get my own way?
I have been praying the prayer for my will to become completely and utterly God’s will for several weeks. I believe God is working, just like Jesus promised. I believe I am inch-by-inch getting free from the tyranny of self-rule.
Your Turn
What about you? Has your own best thinking and self-seeking produced an abundant life for you? Or, has it produced drama, conflict and more? I encourage you to pray this prayer, every time the self-seeking core of your being raises its ugly head. Remember, God has promised to answer your prayer.

Jesus please allow your will to lead my life.
Help me to realize your will for me and to hear your voice as I am under new management.

This is exactly what I was praying for in my morning prayer. It was also talking about God’s will in one of my morning devotionals I have been reading this past week. Sure this is not a coincidence!!

Romans 12:2 is one of my life versus. I thought of that with knowing his will and not conforming to the patterns of this world but being transformed by the renewing of my mind. Then I will be able to test and approve what his will is and not my own. For me this week has seemed to present a theme for me from the first prayer to fill me with your spirit but even before that when Joe talked about doing God’s will in our own power. I had a hard Christmas with my dad coming to town unexpectedly and using my power to convince him of the truth of the gospel was draining and fruitless. So the theme of praying for the Holy Spirit and God’s will and His power is in his perfect timing. I thank you God for the frustration that comes when I do things in my power so it shows me my need and reliance should be on you alone. Help me to know your will and depend more on you each day. I am so glad your ways are not my ways.

I agree, Mike, that the first three prayers go very well together. I find myself praying all three of them. May God bless your father with the wonderful revelation of Jesus to his spirit.
