Jesus’ Promise
1 John 3.22 – And whatever we ask we receive from him, because we keep his commandments and do what pleases him.
Suggested Prayer
I pray for my actual needs to be met by the right supply, in the right way and at the right time.
Personal Reflection
One time four people carried a paralyzed man to Jesus, looking to Jesus for this man’s healing. Matthew describes the event like this: “And just then some people were carrying a paralyzed man lying on a bed. When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, ‘Take heart, son; your sins are forgiven'” (Matthew 9.2).
Everyone thought the man’s needs were physical, but Jesus knew his actual need. When Jesus released the man from his burden of guilt, the healing of his paralysis also took place.
What are my actual needs? Only Jesus knows. Today, I pray the suggested prayer today and believe Jesus’ promise to answer it.
Years ago, I read that we should work as if everything depended on us and pray as if everything depended on God. Concerning my needs, I will be faithful to do my part. After praying, I will trust in the loving activity of my heavenly Father to meet my actual needs.
Your Turn
Jesus knows exactly what you need. Jesus said, “Your Father knows what you need before you ask him” (Matthew 6.8).
The challenge to all of us is to trust him enough to pray and to leave the results up to him.

Real Voices 
Another devotion I read this morning quoted “There’s within my heart a melody….” offering praise to Jesus. As that old hymn circles thru my brain, the chorus rings out reading today’s exhortation “Jesus, Jesus, Jesus. Sweetest name I know! Fills my every longing! Keeps me singing as I go.” While my prayers for God’s will in my life are deeply desired and serious in nature, I rejoice that He has me! He has fulfilled these deep desires, so that I can move through my day, singing with joy as I go. Thank You, Jesus!

Jesus I ask you to please help me to keep your will in my heart and to Pray for those who are lost and to please never let my hand leave yours as you guide me through life.
