Experiment Series: Starr Daily’s 7 Single-Word Weekly Challenge

Starr Daily’s Seven-Day-Plan

Starr Daily was an ex-offender, who changed his given name to this and lived to “star” for God each day.  His conversion and transformation to a new life is as dramatic as any that I have ever read about.  Starr Daily was a spiritual friend of Glenn Clark and was a frequent speaker at retreats that Clark hosted.

While in prison Daily considered seven single word concepts of God.  He chose each day to live as closely to the full meaning of each attribute of God as was possible throughout the entire day.  I hope readers of this blog will imitate Daily’s action.

Sunday – Love

Genesis 22 is the first mention of love in the Bible.  Can I freely offer the love I have of myself to God?  Can I give God my desire to always please myself?

Genesis 22.1-2 -After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, “Abraham!” Abraham said, “Here I am.” 2 He said, “Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you.”

Starr Daily thought – If I cannot feel love, I imitate it by performing some service of love.  I go out of my way to help someone.

Monday – Light

Genesis 1 is the first mention of light in the Bible.  God created light and it was good.  Can I ask God to create more light in my life?

Genesis 1.3-5 – And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. And God saw that the light was good. And God separated the light from the darkness. God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And there was evening and there was morning, the first day.

Starr Daily thought – Monday has the reputation of being called, “blue Monday.”  It is the perfect day to practice the guidance of God and to ask about all things, “Does this glorify the Father?”

Tuesday – Life

Genesis 2 introduces two ways of living.  We can listen to God or we can listen to the voice of the world around us, our own self-will, or that of Satan.  One voice produces life and the other produces destruction.

Genesis 2.9 – The tree of life was in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

Star Daily Thought: The Gospels proclaimed over and over the message of life on earth, here and now.  I have seen people yield to perpetual hate and pay for their treason upon life.  Tuesday was my day to practice abundant life and to give it to everyone I met.

Wednesday – Law

Genesis 26 is the first passage in the Bible where the word, “law,” is mentioned.  Abraham is blessed by God, because he obeys God’s voice.  People do well when they align their lives with and join forces with God’s laws.  God could bless Abraham, because he was living aligned with God’s plans and purposes for an abundant life.

Genesis 26.3-5 – Sojourn in this land, and I will be with you and will bless you, for to you and to your offspring I will give all these lands, and I will establish the oath that I swore to Abraham your father. 4 I will multiply your offspring as the stars of heaven and will give to your offspring all these lands. And in your offspring all the nations of the earth shall be blessed, 5 because Abraham obeyed my voice and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws.”

Starr Daily Thoughts: My objective is to train myself in the supreme law of love by practicing this law all day long.

Thursday – Power

Numbers 14 – When God operates in his power, he shows the world that he is as great as is promised.  These verses are part of a long prayer by Moses.  Moses is asking for God’s assistance.

Numbers 14.17-19 – And now, please let the power of the Lord be great as you have promised, saying, 18 ‘The Lord is slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love, forgiving iniquity and transgression, but he will by no means clear the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, to the third and the fourth generation.’ 19 Please pardon the iniquity of this people, according to the greatness of your steadfast love, just as you have forgiven this people, from Egypt until now.”

Starr Daily Thoughts – On Thursday I give myself up to the study and practice of God’s power and to the secret of attaining it.

Friday – Peace

Numbers 6 contains a blessing that you can pray for all of the people in your sphere of influence.

Numbers 6.24-26 – The Lord bless you and keep you;
the Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you;
the Lord lift up his countenance [or face]  upon you and give you peace.

Starr Daily Thoughts: I know that peace is a quality of my inside condition.  Peace comes from the inside out, not the outside in.

Saturday – Joy

Deuteronomy 28 is a word of warning.  Joy, peace and prosperity will depart from people who chose to follow their own ways.  Think of a man who decides that the law of gravity does not apply to him.  He jumps from a three story window and expects to be happy when he hits the ground.  God does not withhold joy from people out anger over their sin.  They withhold joy from themselves, because they do not follow God’s direction.

Deuteronomy 28.45-47 – “All these curses shall come upon you and pursue you and overtake you till you are destroyed, because you did not obey the voice of the Lord your God, to keep his commandments and his statutes that he commanded you. 46 They shall be a sign and a wonder against you and your offspring forever. 47 Because you did not serve the Lord your God with joyfulness and gladness of heart, because of the abundance of all things . . .”

Starr Daily Thoughts: The best way that I can be joyful is to work to make others happy.

We are indebted to Stephanie Wiggins and her book on Starr Daily, Rebirth and Resurrection, for the way she has researched and written about this man’s life.  Her book can be obtained on Amazon Kindle.

I hope you will join my spiritual friends and me in this exercise.  See what God does for you, as you align your life with His principles of abundant life.  Please leave a reply if God works in a special way.
